Pulling Threads & Answering Questions
Is Threads worth joining as a creative? Plus Listener questions on quitting/pivoting
This week is a slightly more upbeat conversation after the heaviness of the previous one. Phoebe breathes a sigh of relief that the school holidays are over, and reflects on her recent kid’s art workshop. Julie is sleep deprived, also grateful for some more studio time, and reveals how her new fitness regime is playing out…
We discuss the new meta app that is the latest hot topic - Threads. What is it? What’s the point of it, and do we - especially creatives - need it? We dig into how it could be useful vs a time waster.
We then move on and answer some of the listener questions that came in following on from our episode on quitting, pivoting, resting and second jobs.
Finally we wrap up with a call out for anyone in Dunedin who is interested in getting together with us in August when we meet up IRL! If you are please drop Julie a line here: faillikeanartist@gmail.com

Summary of ‘Threads’ info
You can share text, images and videos (up to 5 mins), with clickable direct links in the caption.
It feels more chatty/spontaneous and less curated than instagram.
You will be shown posts by people you follow as well as being shown ‘recommended’ content from people you don’t follow (these can be muted individually)
So far there are no ads, and apparently it’s set to stay this way until it has a billion followers… but you can’t delete your account once you’ve created it, hmm.
Is it worth investing time now whilst the space is relatively new and uncrowded?? Let us know your thoughts on Threads!
